The LED Energy Meter is a promotional display used to promote LED lighting in stores. The project was done for LED Factory; a company specialized in custom made LED light installations. It is used to display the benefits of using LED lighting over the use of conventional lighting.

It works by showing, in real time, how much energy is being used by both the now installed LED lights and the previously installed conventional lights.

The display does have another purpose, not visible on the display itself. The system is also connected to a sensor system that measures the energy usage of all the lights in the store. This information is then stored in a database. This way energy usage can be monitored with great detail.

The screenshots above are from the actual display, but in a demonstrational setup, so the values on the bars do not represent a real situation. The price indications for each day and each month are however accurate according to Dutch energy prices in 2010.
